Alexander Street Park

Alexander Street Park sits off Interstate 277 northeast of uptown, six acres of ball field, courts, and creek bottom. Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation manages it. The county publishes no dog policy for this park, so the dog part of this listing rests on visitor reports and trail directories rather than a posted rule.

One official rule does cover ground inside the property. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs through the middle of the park, and the county’s published greenway guidance is specific about it: “Dogs must be on a 6ft or shorter leash and should be walked on the right edge of the trail.” The same list asks that waste go in a trash can. Beyond the trail, nothing. The tennis courts, the soccer field, and the playground go unaddressed in anything Mecklenburg County has put in writing about dogs here.

The segment through the park runs a mile one way, north through residential blocks to Cordelia Park on North Davidson. Two bridges cross the wooded creek inside the park itself. Carolina Thread Trail puts the trailhead at 745 East 12th Street and counts fifty parking spaces across the segment’s three trailheads, the other two at Parkwood Avenue and Cordelia Park.

The rest is a neighborhood park: six tennis courts with no lights, basketball, a picnic shelter with a grill, restrooms, open field. Directories agree on that list and disagree on smaller details, which is what happens when the source page isn’t readable.
