Archdale Animal Hospital sits at 1319 Archdale Drive in Montclaire South, a few blocks west of where Archdale Drive meets Old Pineville Road at the Blue Line station. The site calls it a “Full Service Companion Animal Hospital” and counts “50+ Years Serving Charlotte.” It opened in 1964 as Barton-Francis Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Barry George joined in 1990 and bought out his partner in 2007; his son, Dr. Matthew George, practices here too.
There’s no walk-in lobby routine published anywhere on the site. The hospital is appointment-only, and the homepage spells out the rest: “At the time of your appointment please park in a numbered parking space and call the number listed (704-552-2333) to let us know you have arrived.” Then: “A Tech will check you in over the phone and a Doctor will be out to your car once check-in is completed.” Numbered spaces in the lot, and under that procedure the dog waits in the car until someone comes out to it.
The exam rooms are still where the work happens. The published service list covers wellness care and vaccines, parasite prevention, surgery, pain management, teeth cleaning, digital radiography, Class IV laser therapy, microchipping, nutritional counseling, behavioral medicine, an in-house blood chemistry lab, and both an in-house and an online pharmacy. Boarding and grooming appear on none of it, despite what a few directory listings say.
Leash rules and water bowls aren’t published — not on the site, not on the Facebook page. County law is what governs the walk from the car.
Hours as posted on the contact page: 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday, 7:45am to noon Saturday, closed Sunday. Several directory listings show a different weekday pattern with 5pm closes midweek. The hospital’s own page contradicts them.
For after hours, the contact page names two: Carolina Veterinary Specialists at 2225 Township Road, (704) 504-9608, and CARE at 3726 Latrobe Drive, (704) 457-2300. CARE is the same emergency hospital listed a mile off Monroe Road from Common Market Oakwold, across town to the northeast.
