CARE sits at 3726 Latrobe Drive, off Monroe Road near the North Wendover intersection, less than a mile west of Common Market Oakwold. Dogs go inside. That’s the whole function of the building: a 24-hour emergency and specialty animal hospital where the dog is the patient rather than the guest.

Emergency service runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The specialty services run by referral from a primary vet: cardiology, neurology, surgery, internal medicine, critical care, oncology, ophthalmology, anesthesiology. The site states plainly what CARE does not do, which is spay/neuter, teeth cleaning, vaccinations, and boarding.

Emergency arrivals are triaged. In the hospital’s own words, “cases are seen in order of severity, with the most critical patients prioritized,” and the same page calls wait times “extremely variable” while aiming for evaluation within an hour of arrival. The published emergency exam fee is $159. That page also puts most pets at an estimated $800 to $900 of care minimum. The low end of the treatment estimate is due before treatment starts and the balance at discharge; cash, checks, cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, All Pet Card, CareCredit, and Scratch payment plans are accepted.

The lobby has free Wi-Fi, concessions, and large-screen TVs. Leash and carrier rules for that lobby aren’t published anywhere on the site, and neither is parking.

For hospitalized patients, visiting runs 10 a.m. to midnight, capped at twenty minutes for general patients and five minutes in ICU, where visits can happen more than once a day. Nursing rounds at 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. can push a visit back. CARE is not currently accepting personal items for hospitalized pets, including beds and toys.

The what-to-bring list on the FAQ is two items long: a list of the medications the pet is taking, and any information from recent veterinary visits.
