Cedarwood Park is a Mecklenburg County neighborhood park at 6624 Reddman Road in east Charlotte. County rules are the park’s rules. The Park and Recreation Facilities Ordinance, Section 26, makes it unlawful “to have pets in the areas of County parks where pets are expressly prohibited,” which leaves dogs allowed across the rest of the grounds. Leashed. Physical restraint anywhere off your own property comes from the county animal ordinance, Sec. 3-71, and Park and Recreation’s own published rules put a number on it: “Pets must be on leash 6 ft. or shorter.”
The same rules sheet reads “Pets are not allowed in playgrounds or athletic field areas.” Cedarwood has a playground, so that line has somewhere to land inside this park. Off-leash is not legal on the grounds. The county’s fenced dog parks are the only off-leash ground in Mecklenburg County, and this is not one of them. Section 11 of the ordinance separately bars bathing dogs in “the streams, lakes, or other water features of any park.”
The paths are dirt. Every footway mapped inside the park boundary is a ground surface rather than asphalt, and two of them cross water, one of those on a boardwalk.
The county has no web page for this park. No published hours, no acreage, no amenity list, no parking information. Section 31 of the ordinance makes it unlawful to stay past “the posted closing time for that park,” so the sign at the entrance is where those hours live. Water fountains aren’t published either way.
One name to keep straight. The county’s parks dataset carries a second record, Cedarwood Pointe Park, at 6110 Cedarwood Pointe Circle in 28215, listed as undeveloped. Different park, different side of town.
Common Market Oakwold, where dogs are patio-only, is about two miles west on Monroe Road.
