Charlotte Beer Garden

Charlotte Beer Garden publishes no dog policy. The venue’s own site runs to menus, reservations, private events, and hours, and dogs appear on none of it. The Facebook page doesn’t mention them either. What exists is visitor reporting: a TripAdvisor review from October 2022 calls the place “also dog friendly” and describes other guests’ dogs outside in good weather, and CLTtoday’s roundup of dog-friendly places in Charlotte lists the Beer Garden among its restaurants. Two reports, both outdoors. Neither is the house speaking.

So what’s here is what visitors have seen, not a rule the venue stands behind. Dogs reported in the outdoor seating. Nothing published about the indoor floors, nothing published about the rooftop, nothing published about leashes or water bowls one way or the other. Mecklenburg County’s animal ordinance, Sec. 3-71, requires physical restraint anywhere off your own property, so county law is the operative leash rule regardless.

The building sits at 1300 South Tryon in South End, three levels and a rooftop, and the whole pitch is the tap wall the site calls the “World’s largest draft beer selection.” There’s a full kitchen too. North Carolina’s food code, 15A NCAC 18A .2656, allows dogs in the outdoor dining areas of a permitted food establishment when they’re physically restrained and don’t pass through any indoor part of it. Breweries without kitchens have more room to say yes inside. This isn’t one of those.

Hours run late. 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday, per the site. Lunch is weekdays 11 to 3, brunch Saturday and Sunday 10 to 2.
