Common Market Oakwold sits at 4420-A Monroe Road, between the Oakhurst and Cotswold neighborhoods. The dog rule is published on the location’s own page and it runs one line: “Dogs: Allowed on the patio only.” The South End and Plaza Midwood pages carry the identical line, so this is the company’s policy, not one store’s.
Patio only means patio only. Dogs don’t come inside, and inside is where the deli counter and the bottle shop are. Ordering means someone goes in while someone stays out.
What makes the patio legal in the first place is the North Carolina food code, 15A NCAC 18A .2656, which permits dogs in outdoor dining areas as long as they are physically restrained and don’t pass through any indoor part of the establishment. Restaurants can still say no. This one says yes, in writing.
Leash specifics and water bowls are not published, on this page or anywhere else on the site. Mecklenburg County’s animal ordinance, Sec. 3-71, requires physical restraint anywhere off your own property, so county law is the operative rule on the patio regardless.
Two clocks run here. The store is open 8am to 8pm Sunday and Monday, 8am to 10pm Tuesday through Saturday. The deli closes earlier — 4pm Sunday and Monday, 9pm the rest of the week. Beer and bottles keep going after the sandwiches stop.
Breakfast is daily, with coffee roasted locally by Magnolia and Enderly. The sandwich list is long and the names are jokes: the Billy Club, Tunaughty, the Dilworth Scandal. Nightly Nibbles, the wings-and-burgers menu, runs 5 to 9pm Tuesday through Saturday.
Parking, in the location’s own words: “Plenty, but be mindful of our neighbors’ spots.” That’s the whole of what the site says about it.
CARE, the 24-hour emergency vet at 3726 Latrobe Drive, is less than a mile west along Monroe Road.
