Craft Tasting Room & Growler Shop publishes no dog policy. Its website carries nothing about dogs or pets across any of its pages, and both the Facebook and Instagram pages are walled to anyone not logged in. What follows about dogs comes from directory and visitor reports, not from the business.
Two reports, two different publishers, same conclusion. South End Charlotte, the neighborhood organization, names Craft in a roundup of places that “allow dogs on the patio.” Charlotte Food Scene’s listing runs more specific: “Dogs are not allowed inside the establishment, but are welcome in the outdoor beer garden.” Neither is confirmed by the business.
So the details stay blank here. No leash rule is published, which leaves Mecklenburg County’s animal ordinance as the operative one — Sec. 3-71 requires physical restraint anywhere off your own property. Nothing is published about water bowls either way. The outdoor seating itself is permitted under the North Carolina food code, 15A NCAC 18A .2656, which allows dogs in outdoor dining areas “provided that dogs and cats are physically restrained, and do not pass through any indoor areas of the food establishment.”
The outdoor space is harder to pin down than it should be. One source calls it a patio, the other a beer garden. The restaurant’s own site doesn’t describe it at all. Size, shade, and shelter go unaddressed in everything published.
Alyson and Dan Davis opened Craft in 2014 in the Gold District of South End, on South Church Street. The kitchen runs to cheese and charcuterie boards, flatbreads, salads, and piadina, the Italian flatbread sandwich, five of them named for family. Weekend brunch is three items, Saturday and Sunday, and the weekday lunch combos pair soup with one of the three.
Hours as posted: 11 a.m. daily except Monday, which starts at 2 p.m. Close is 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 10 Tuesday, 11 Wednesday, midnight Thursday through Saturday.
Wooden Robot’s taproom sits a couple of blocks southwest, on South Mint.
