Heist publishes no dog policy. Not on its own site, and not on the page for the NoDa location. The one dog-related page the brewery does publish is an adoption event, and that one runs at Barrel Arts on Woodward Avenue, a different address a few miles off. Everything below about dogs at 2909 North Davidson comes from visitor reports.

Those reports agree on outdoor tables only. A Charlotte dog guide from October 2019 puts it directly: “It’s patio-only for pooches at Heist’s original North Davidson Street brewery because it also serves pub fare.” Two write-ups from 2021 say the same thing in softer words — pet-friendly patio, dogs spending the afternoon outside. No source describes a dog indoors.

Then the part that complicates all of it. A grease fire in the kitchen closed this location in July 2024, and it stayed closed nearly two years, reopening over Memorial Day weekend 2026. Every dog report above predates the fire. The work done in between was not cosmetic: brewing moved to Barrel Arts, the kettles stayed behind as decoration, roughly forty seats went in where the equipment had been, and the bar was rebuilt into a U that holds about twice the old count. The side patio, which brewing equipment had taken over years ago, came back. Whether the dog rule survived the rebuild is unconfirmed.

Leash and water are both unpublished. Mecklenburg County’s ordinance covers the first by default, physical restraint anywhere off your own property. The state food code covers the mechanics of the second: dogs restrained outdoors, and not passing through any indoor area to get there.

The mezzanine is bar service now rather than table service, lounge seating meant for standing and mingling. Sunday brunch is back as an all-you-can-eat buffet, the format that drew four to five hundred people a week before the fire. Hours as posted: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 to midnight Friday and Saturday, 10 to 10 Sunday.

The food menu on the website is posted as photographs of the printed menu, so none of it is searchable here. NoDa Brewing Company’s original taproom sits about half a mile southwest down North Davidson.
